On March 31, China’s first ultra-thin strip industrial production line that is established by Shagang Group was officially released, and the successful application of Taier’s “hot rolling inner water-cooled mandrel” has once again facilitated the innovation and development of China’s steel industry.

The ultra-thin strip industrial production line of Shagang Group is the first ultra-thin strip production line of direct cast rolling in China that is constructed by adopting the CASTRIP technology of Nucor Corporation, which is characterized by shorter process, less floor space, lower energy consumption, reduced investment and more environmentally-friendly production. The production line represents the most advanced thin strip casting and rolling technology in the world, and the ultra-thin strip industrial production line is also shortened from the traditional 800m to 50m.

A breakthrough in technological innovation is also achieved in terms of the mandrel structure applied in this production line and the time for coiling of high-temperature strip. In 2016, from acquiring customer demands to successful launch, the technical team of Taier sets up a special group to tackle key technical problems, and adopts hot rolling inner water-cooled mandrel of plunger wedge type to meet the production process of the casting and rolling line, in this way, continuous cooling of key components including mandrel sector plate, spindle, plunger, spring seat, etc., as well as long-term coiling of high-temperature strip is achieved, the highest temperature of coiled strip can reach 800 ° C and the amount of coiled strip at one time can reach more than 900,000 tons, which significantly improves the performance and service life of the mandrel, and Taier thereby successfully realizes import substitution and obtains the national invention patent.
