Brazil is a major iron ore producer in the world, and it has a unique condition to develop its metallurgical Industry. In 2017, the steel output of Brazil reached 34.4 million tons, ranking the ninth in the world and accounting for 2% the global output. With a low per capita consumption of steel of only 88 kg — lower than the global per capita consumption of 200 kg and as a country with a large population of 200 million people, Brazil has a huge space for follow-up development. Meanwhile, Brazil’s steel industry possesses strong industry control and global competitiveness by virtue of its rich raw materials and high industrial concentration.
